Choosing draining and mesh flats

Choose the support pattern

A mesh base can support modules or blocks while letting water pass through. Confirm that the actual grid opening and support surface suit the size of what will sit on it.

Plan where the runoff goes

Use a compatible solid base or other collection surface if water cannot drain freely on the shelf. Compare the outer shape and depth before nesting the two trays.

Compare these selections

Department questions

Will a mesh tray hold water on its own?

A mesh tray lets water pass through. Add a compatible watertight tray where you need a reservoir.

Are perforated and open mesh bases equivalent?

Both allow drainage, but the spacing and usable support surface can differ.

What should I check for small blocks?

Check the mesh openings and support shape against the footprint of the blocks.
