Choosing modular cell inserts

Measure an insert as a whole

Cell dimensions describe one planting cavity. To see how many modules fit in a base, compare each insert’s outer rim and the base’s usable inside dimensions. Consider any handles or tabs that project from the sides.

Choose how you will move each batch

Separate modules let you move one batch when it is ready. Check that the rim can be lifted and the bottom holes remain accessible in the selected base, especially if you plan to push each plug out.

Department questions

Is six cells the package count?

Six cells normally describes one module. Check the number of modules per offer separately.

Will every six-cell insert fit a 1020 base in the same arrangement?

Use the exact insert and base dimensions or the maker’s confirmed layout. Six cells describes capacity only.

Why check the hole shape?

It can affect water flow and whether a plug can be pushed out through the bottom.
